List of anime

Since a lot of pk anime titles have been posted on the forums, I thought we could gather a list of what we consider best so that we could use them for motivation.

I don't know how it should be organized so that the list wouldn't grow to the extent of chaos, but let's start off with what has already been posted:

Anime:

  1. Avatar: The Last Airbender (9.3) - In a war-torn world of elemental magic, a young boy reawakens to undertake a dangerous mystic quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar.
  2. FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood (9.1) - Two brothers lose their mother to an incurable disease. With the power of "alchemy", they commit taboo, trying to resurrect her.
  3. Death Note (9.1) - An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it.
  4. Dragon Ball Kai (9)
  5. Dragon Ball (8.8) - Son Gokû, a fighter with a monkey tail, goes on a quest with an assortment of odd characters in search of the Dragon Balls, a set of crystals that can give its bearer anything they desire.
  6. Naruto Shippuuden (8.8)
  7. Bleach (8.8) - High school student Kurosaki Ichigo is unlike any ordinary kid. Why? Because he can see ghosts.
  8. Code Geass (8.8) - Japan has been invaded and conquered by the Britannian Empire. Japan is now known as 'Area 11' and its citizens known as 'Elevens'. The Britannian Empire takes away Japan's autonomous power and imposes its rule through the use of 'Nightmares/Knightmares'. The Empire's rule has never faltered, but cracks have begun to show...
  9. X (8.8) - At the close of the millenium, the battle for humanity's future is staged. Kamui Shirou's destiny has been decided as he returns to Tokyo to face his ultimate challenge. The Dragons of Heaven, defenders of humanity, stand ready to protect the world from the Dragons of Earth, the seven angels of legend who embrace the eradication of mankind to bring about the planet's purification. Now Kamui must decide which side to fight for although he finds the idea utterly unappealing.
  10. Steins;gate (8.8) - The eccentric mad scientist Okabe, his childhood friend Mayuri, and the otaku hacker Daru have banded together to form the "Future Gadget Research Laboratory," and spend their days in a ramshackle laboratory hanging out and occasionally attempting to invent incredible futuristic gadgets.
  11. Elfen Leid (8.6)
  12. Serial Experiments Lain (8.5) - Strange events begin to occur as a withdrawn girl named Lain becomes obsessed with interconnected virtual realm of "The Wired".
  13. Kara no Kyoukai (8.45) - From a long sleep, Ryougi Shiki awoke. As an after effect, she gained the power to perceive the death of things. A power to kill anything with just a knife lures Shiki into a dark world. The murderer from two years ago. Swarm of floating ghosts. A girl who can bend things by just looking at them. A spiral construction which collects people's death. When numerous bizarre incidents collides with Shiki's Mystic Eyes, her lost memories reawaken.
  14. Kimagure Orange Road (8.4) - Kyousuke Kasuga is a completely normal Japanese high school student, with two very big problems. The first is his complete and utter inability to choose between two girls, the bright, bubbly, and overbearing Hikaru, and the moody, beautiful, Madoka. The second problem... well... he has telekinesis, and doesn't want anybody to know about it.
  15. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S (8.2) - The arc focuses on the ordeals of Mikoto Misaka after discovering the existence of the Radio Noise sisters that are being used in the Level 6 Shift, an experiment where they are killed in order for the highest-ranking Level 5, Accelerator, to achieve Level 6.

He has been avoiding making trouble for others but his life changes when he meets a girl Yuzuriha Inori, a member of a resistance guerrilla group called "Funeral Parlor", whose members pilot mecha weapons to fight against the government.
  30. Windy Tale (7.6) - A collection of episodes in the lives of people with the power to control the wind. In a small village in the Japanese countryside lives a clan of kazetsukai, wind handlers, people with the power to control the wind.
  31. Zettai Karen Children (7.6) - In the future, people with ESP are becoming more widespread. The Japanese government has hired three of the most powerful espers in Japan to work for B.A.B.E.L. (Base of Backing ESP Laboratory), but all three are ten year old girls with questionable attitudes.
  32. Shakugan no Shana (7.4) - Death is nothing like what high school student Sakai Yuji expected it to be. In an instant, he is killed with nothing but his maimed soul left in the wake. Before the last remnants of Yuuji could be absorbed, a mysterious young girl with blazing red hair saves the boy, and informs him of the dark state of his world. Now Sakai must aid the young girl, Shana, as she wards off invaders from another world.
  33. Shinsekai Yori (7.2) - A millennium from now, in Japan, exists a utopia. The Protagonist, Saki Watanabe, lives in an idyllic village barred from the outside world. Her world is ruled by the people who possess the "gods' power" of psychokinesis. Not all is as it seems, however. In this utopian village, strange rumors about a monstrous cat that abducts children circulate, and students are said to disappear from the academy. The world and its history are much darker than they appear and humanity is on the verge of collapse.
  34. Green Lantern (7.1) - Test pilot Hal Jordan finds himself recruited as the newest member of the intergalactic police force, The Green Lantern Corps.
  35. The Flame Of Recca (6.9) - Hanabishi Recca is a boy who emulates the ninja of the past. He is nearly killed in an accident, but a girl named Yanagi heals him with her powers. Later, the two are tracked down by a woman, who subsequently attacks them. Yet, just as the woman hurts Yanagi, Recca releases a powerful flame upon her..
  36. Corpse Princess (6.8) - The title "Corpse Princess" belongs to Makina Hoshimura, an undead girl who seeks to hunt down 108 corpses in order to go to heaven.
  37. Telepathy Girl Ran (6.8) - Ran is a bright and energetic first-grader in junior high school who possesses supernatual abilities. Together with Midori (her friend who also has supernatural powers) and Rui, the threesome are constantly embroiled in mysterious circumstances.
  38. Gate Keepers (6.1) - wind control powers
  39. Needless (?) - In the near future, mankind has suffered from a Third World War, leaving extreme damage all over and forced mankind to become even more distinct from their species. The world was at chaos and from this chaos comes a new species: Needless. The Needless are humans who have contracted a disease as humans may call them, and allow them to wield extraordinary powers far superior to any mankind. Their abilities include Telekinesis, elemental powers, gravity control, adaptation, radioactive release and all manners of scientific impossibility.
  40. Macross (?)

Most of them are hyperlinked to IMDB with a rating in the brackets. If IMDB didn't have enough info on it, rating and/or description were taken from other pages. Anyway, the ratings don't mean much, because anime often have fillers that can lower their rating.

Some of them have multiple parts or multiple versions with different ratings. I either took the first one in imdb search results or the one with the biggest number of ratings.

Some of them had both movies and TV series .. usually opted for the series.

I wonder if it were somehow possible to make something like a shared post that everyone can edit?

This thread is FTW!!

I think i just died and went to heaven!

Also note. In case anyone is interested. There is going to be a sequel anime series for Avatar: The Last Airbender.  It comes out sometime next year, but here's a link to the wikipedia page.

Avatar: Legend of Korra

I get goosebumps every time i hear that music...

I can't wait.  Sounds fun.  The writers of Avatar are geniuses, so i'm sure they will do a good job!

Have fun!

Just watched another anime that i really liked and thought i would share.

Angel Beats!

Opening

Description:
In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the otherhand, Tenshi (Angel), the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.

Personally i really liked this anime. It has a nice blend of drama-comedy, action and tragedy. They all help to create a simple, yet deep story.

I hope if any of you take a look at it, that you will enjoy it as much as i did.

Have fun!

I'm really amazed at "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S":

It starts cheerful and with humour, then slowly becomes more and more serious.
