Booming voice

Recently I've been pursuing the totality of myself. Basically, this is an attempt at merging the different layers of awareness to be able to easily access them from any state of mind.

Last weekend I participated in a sort of extreme hike. After about 13 or 14 hours into the hike, I noticed a change in mindset, personality and voice. After the change, I felt refreshed and full of energy again .. as if I had just woken up from a long sleep. I think this has happened before but I haven't paid much attention to it. Anyway, a couple of nights ago in an OBE, I think I couldn't recognize my voice. Then last night I bumped into an old friend. At close range, he recognized my looks but when I spoke, he could not recognize my voice. Today I met him again and he said my voice was normal again. Well, I noticed a slight difference but hadn't paid much attention to it. The friend wondered if I had been in the physical body or in the astral double when I met him. I was pretty sure I was in the physical body.

Have any of you also encountered some similar "transformations" / "mutations"?

:D Just now I read owltwelve's post.

Another method which generally works the best for me is invocation of an entity or fictional character. Even though this method tends to be the most powerful, I don't use it as much, because even though I drop my weaknesses & gain the strengths of the entity; I become a different person. A good example is after watching the most recent "Avengers" movie, I assumed the persona of the Scarlet Witch character, & started to manifest her powers, but that came with her personality traits & ethics as well. This is one of the main methods of reaching enlightenment in Vajrayana Buddhism, as well. I think a good strategy with this method, is to create your own entities with traits you accept. Owltwelve, for example, is an entity/Deity with certain powers; TheMoonKingdom, is an astral realm:)

~Yep, a quote of Owltwelve .. or maybe that of one of his personas.

Anyone else?
Any experiences / situations to share?

My siblings used to say my skin looked slightly "golden" when we wrestled playfully and tickled each other as very young kids.

Though we WERE inside with lights on so...may or may not be human error smile.

Interesting..

A night or two ago I noticed the personality switch in the dreams.

Climbed and flew around at some place. Then a few hours later (some other dream), some friends brought me to the same place. I was afraid to even climb there, in no shape for performing acrobatic tricks or flying around.

So far it seems that the "normal" cycle has mostly been

  • 4 AM - 0 AM (20 h): persona 1 (more rational, acts according to rules to fit in;a bit asocial)
  • 0 AM - 4 AM (4 h): persona 2 (values freedom above all;mysterious, unpredictable;outgoing)

This cycle can be overridden by staying awake.

Probably due to the difference in the duty cycles, persona 1 is often fatigued. Also, the desires of persona 2 leak through and sometimes there's more of a mixture of the two. By utilizing the traits from persona 2, it is possible to increase its part in the mixture.

Edit: Note that the first 4 hours of sleep often feel like several days.

I've been sleeping in segments lately for a while, which included waking up in those 4 hours you mention. ITS A BIG CHANGE. Like damn, its almost like my birth chart has been changed. Im still the same Arramu at the core but I change a lot. Funny enough this is the time when the earth element goes deep and the spiritual world is said to come very close to us. Also I hear many geniuses produced some of their greatest works during this time or had the best inspiration then.

Maybe it affects during dreams/astral as well?

It seems it does work in dreams, astral as well.

These cycles reminded me of an exercise that I used to perform years ago. I noticed that I was using the left hemisphere for most of the time. Due to being unused, it was often the right hemisphere that caught cold. Worked around this weakness by focusing on the right hemisphere. Once the right hemisphere was activated, I moved focus to the exact center, to carefully balance both hemispheres. Back then this exercise worked very well together with Pranayama. It enabled me to open and close channels on will. It also enabled control over sleepiness.

Last night I did the same, and the effect was .. well .. interesting. A pool of "fuel" ignited. Internal heat, some nerves twitching and could barely sleep. Managed to melt a few of the icicles within the body. It's not just the body and internal heat, weather has also become warm (from around -20 *C to -1 *C).

Sussch: Could you explain a little more what you mean by focusing into the left/right hemispheres? I'm very thought oriented as you already know and I know that the opposite hemisphere helps to bring in more emotional. You can correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that help me quiet my thinking/logical mind to focus into the other hemisphere?

I meant focus on the hemispheres literally, like you can focus on any organ or any point inside or outside of the body.

Although I've read about the left hemisphere being more rational, right hemisphere more emotional .. I don't think it's always like that. I think the hemispheres (as several other organs) are just empty cups that you can fill with anything. For one, you could improve redundancy (have both hemispheres with the same functionality) so that you could keep cycling the hemispheres (resting one, actively using the other). This was initially the idea why I started with the exercise several years ago - to overcome the need for sleeping and to gain the ability to work 24/7. Though, obviously the intensity of concentration could be improved by having both hemispheres active simultaneously and synchronized. This would also allow for deep sleep on will. But then again, you could also furnish one hemisphere for specific personality and the other for another .. potentially simplifying neurology research (and mind control?).

The idea of redundancy suits me better, because I've seen documentaries of people who have lost one hemisphere due to an accident. A heavily decentralized and redundant system would be the most reliable, I think. Hmm .. but hot vs. cold redundancy? If brain is affected by wear, then it might make sense to prefer one hemisphere and then switch between them at a later stage in life. Still, organics is not comparable to semiconductors under radiation. Organics probably depends on frequent utilization in order to remain functional :).

Note: With the recent years, I've learned a bit more about cycles and the power of pause. I don't think working 24/7 without sleeping is a good idea. All the organs need a pause every now and then. Peak productivity is more about balancing work and pause.

Interesting ideas mate. It makes me think that I'm really just avoiding the reality of how hard it is to quiet the mind. Seems there is no shorter path. How well has it worked for you on attaining this redundant system?

What do you mean by "hard" or "shorter path"?

In my posts, I didn't think about a quiet mind so I'm interested to see how it might be related.

I don't know. The thing is, the first time I had the idea and worked on it for some time, some other phenomena showed up and I forgot all about this idea of a redundant system. Any recent attempts at it have caused internal heat (finally!) and issues with sleep, so I don't know what to make of it.

As I'm sure a few of us already know I'm always looking for shorter paths to a result and then back tracking when the going gets rough. lol. Really I have a very noisy mind and I consider the possibilities to the point of insanity. I guess what I'm ultimately trying to do is find the right tool to do certain jobs and I haven't had any luck yet. I expect that tightening a bolt with a socket wrench would be a "shorter" path as opposed to trying to use a regular wrench but what I find myself doing is trying to use my fingers. :P I do wonder if calming the mind is more successful for people if they are able to focus on the emotional instead of the logical.

It seems that you described my predicament right now of running into a wall after two weeks of any practice I do. I seem to get a lot of phenomena and then I forget to return to whatever practice it was I was doing. Bleh.

Relax ;)
Just sit there sometimes. Any ideas, requests or orders or whatnot can wait for 15 minutes.

Ah, ok. I wouldn't compare it to running into a wall, because many different practises share the core principles. For example, this brain hemispheres thing is just an individual variant of concentration practice, which is supposed to ignite the "fuel". Somehow regular concentration practice earlier didn't work that well for me. Either it's this hemisphere thing that somehow appeals to me, or maybe I've resolved some of the earlier showstoppers (or had some additional realizations for guidance). I don't think it's that important to keep repeating the exact same exercise over and over. You can vary it a little bit, like with gym workouts - same muscle groups at slightly different angles and sometimes high reps, sometimes low reps.

Hmm, you may be on to something here. Perhaps I should work with the pattern instead of trying to fight it. This is definitely something for me to chew on. Perhaps I'll create a few routines that change every two weeks. Maybe my "muscles" are actually begging for a break and I just need to move onto a different workout.
