Hipster: the importance of self-image

I think I'll start paying more attention to my image (to what I look like).

I've posted about this on my blog as well, but here's the background:

A couple of weeks ago friend's mom saw me walking the home streets, with trousers pulled on pants. Today at a get-together with the friend and his family, his mom told me I looked pretty much the same .. even had the same pants.

The point of the story is that at the time when friend's mom had seen me, I was on a conference trip far from home. The difference in timezones was like 8 hours. While I did notice that I dreamt of home a lot, I didn't really pay any attention to my clothing. Pff .. just a dream, right? .. Right?

Ok, I'll try to revive this one as well.

From this perspective, it actually seems to make sense to visualize a superhero costume or the body of an animal instead of having a double of the regular body. It would make it more difficult for friends to recognize. :D

To be totally honest, I vaguely remember seeing friend's mom as well .. with a slightly puzzled look. At that time, I just relaxed as much as I could and enjoyed the freedom while the body was busy healing the nose wound. So, at that time I didn't care too much about what others thought of me. Typically I have been scared of popping up far from home, being afraid I wouldn't be able to make it back in time for the daily responsibilities. That time I had convinced myself that I will teleport back anyway, no matter how far I am.

The same was also the case with when I visited my own mom while meditating, several years ago. I thought about her without restricting myself. I did see her, though instead of her seeing me back, she simply felt my presence.

I suspect that this changed when I got a new body in the dreams. It was different from the previous one in the sense that in addition to being able to touch, I noticed that I could taste and smell through the skin. At first it was wavy and translucent, then gradually it seemed to have become more and more solid. Though, I still have different kinds of dreams and depending on the task at hand I'm sometimes invisible and formless.

I'm learning at LMP that it's often a good thing to change perception. A few of the folk there will change themselves into animals in order to learn to connect with that part of the animal that they need to learn from or gain strength. It's very interesting. I know that we can literally take on the form of a ball of consciousness if we wanted but letting go of the programming that we perceive as being "us" is incredibly difficult. Especially since humans tend to have an obsession over self.
