Confusion of bodies

I wonder what can be done about the confusion that seems to come with switching bodies..

There's a blog post which also describes this, here. Background:

I know I'm supposed to report the water meter values to father when I get home (father asked for that on facebook). I fall asleep, and somehow associate with another person. Then the next morning I notice that the other person has replied to father's request on facebook: "Sorry, I cannot do that. The water meters are behind cupboards." Well, no. The water meters are not behind cupboards and this person couldn't have possibly even checked the water meter values at our apartment.

In any case, I feel sorry for causing confusion to the other person. Were I to experience something like that, I can't imagine what I would do. I might just think I was going nuts or something. But then again, publicly apologizing to the other person for accidentally possessing him would probably make matters even worse. While this is the first experience where I actually received feedback, I don't think it's the only experience. The others I've just written off as dreams or perhaps even forgotten them altogether.

Uhm .. to break the awkward silence, I would answer my ponderings.

Apparently I need to practice continuity of awareness.

Are you sure you're not just perceiving what other people are doing on their own?

That's one of the ways to interpret it: experiences like this are merely the perception of other people acting on their own.

The pros of that interpretation:

  • No responsibility for whatever it is that others do.
  • Simple to think of, because it aligns well with the widely accepted concept of body limiting the mind.

The cons of that interpretation:

  • Potentially counter-productive in the case that the influence to other peoples' minds was real.
  • Does not align well with empathy and psychokinesis model based on the distribution of consciousness.
  • Some actions of others don't make sense.

I had to think of more cons than pros, because otherwise my argument wouldn't be valid .. right?

In any case, there have been similar experiences while awake as well .. so that I've literally felt myself moving in another body and seeing it from my own. Or the same thing for saying something from someone else's body and so on. But it's the logic (or temporarily, lack of it) behind other peoples' actions that really makes me doubt it's just perception.

It seems to me that it's all just about what side of the coin you're looking at. When you have complete empathy how do you know what is yours and theirs? Personally I see the line of separation completely blurred to the point that there is no separation and what we have left is a single consciousness. Perhaps the amalgamation of the two creates the end result and both parties are at fault. Should you be half guilty? I'm partially joking with that question but I still think it's a fairly valid point. I can only see that it aligns extremely well with empathy and psychokinesis. I know that in my experience when I've had complete empathy with people everything they do has always felt like it was my idea and it wasn't. I was just along for the ride. They could argue that I influenced them and it could be true. Empathy is a tricky thing. I like to see empathy as the lack of brain interference and thus without the ego creating that sense of separation it all seems like it was "ours/theirs" at the same time.

@limpidprogress: Yes, that's what I meant.

Theoretically I could interpret it in the way that I was just an observer with no participation. But as you pointed out, there really is no separation and probably both parties were involved. This is why I take responsibility for more than just the actions I've committed through this body.

And that's where the question comes in. Being used to acting through this body, I tend to cause confusion while in another. For the sake of this discussion, I think we can consider confusion while neglecting the consciousness density distribution inside or around the other body.

I think you hit on a point for why we need to be able to concentrate at 100% capacity before we start exploring these other states of consciousness. Once the cat is out of the bag you're really in for a rough ride. I am assuming that is what you meant by "consciousness density distribution". :)

We're just ice cubes floating in the ocean man:)

More specifically though, it sounds like Bi-location, body jumping, or astral telepathy. I frequently experience things from the bodies of others, or cause the to feel what I feel physically. Also, when I communicate telepathically with people who don't know I'm doing it; they often recall the conversation as a normal & real memories in the physical. When I project to people I know, they seem aware of my presence & often see the a light refraction where I happen to be. Haven't been able to fully materialize a bi-located body yet, at least intentionally, but others report that I do it, though I don't ever remember.

Now that is interesting owl. They can see the refraction of light. hmm.. I gotta ponder that one. As for them seeing you and you not remembering? I would assume that it is similar to how you are able to get people to remember telepathic communications as though it was normal and real in the physical. The crazy thing about all of this is that the more you break the barriers the less real they are and how difficult it is to actually draw a line. I wouldn't be even slightly surprised at this point that telepathy is bilocation and that is the same for every single "power" that we find. It just IS. So much to ponder.

This is greatly simplified, but regarding consciousness density distribution, I meant the mixture of consciousness from different people (how dense it is for each person and where it's located in respect to the body). The confusion of bodies only arises when I associate myself with another person because we look similar, act similar or because I feel responsible for something related to the person. In other words, it happens when my consciousness density is over a threshold and I get too close. When my consciousness is spread over a larger area, then the influence seems to be more subtle, and there's almost no confusion.

@limpidprogress: You're right about concentration. I think that for a short while, most people are able to summon a rather strong concentration. Though, I'm pretty sure it's the continuity or long-term awareness (meditation throughout daily activities) that I'm missing. Thanks a lot to owltwelve for the video on another meditation-related topic :).
