Tai Chi Chuan

Hello friends,

I am interested if anyone knows which is better, to train Tai Chi after or before other physical training?

I've been practicing for a week now by an instructional DVD, since we don't have any gym studio that does Tai Chi (also I wouldn't have time for another "need to be" obligation). My knees still hurt a bit after finishing as the horse stance is something to get used to. I practiced Tae Kwon Do a while ago so I have some prior disposition, I got a feel for the flow; I believe so, yes.

What about eating? Are there any remarks about that, when should you train?

I got some more questions for later. Thanks for now :)

My teacher said it was something to be practiced throughout the day as you have the time. I have seen many practice it first thing in the morning. I am unsure of the diet. I do know different foods give off different energies. I know the Monks are Vegetarian however they will not waste meat if it is already there. I think it is a personal choice.
I found a lot of inner turmoil ceased when I became vegetarian however I still eat eggs cheese milk all that. If all there was to eat was meat then I wouldnt have a problem eating it it is just while there is enough other food to survive I do not see the point in killing just so I can enjoy the taste. Also they use a lot of steroids in the meat in some countries. I am not malnourished or Iron deficient. There were no adverse side effects as the meat industry tries to spin it. I am strong in body and mind. However I do not judge those who choose to eat meat. I think it is just a choice one makes if it is right for them. I remember a story a Monk once said about mans lust for war coming from the energy left over from the killing and eating of meat. There is an energy to food especially fresh food.  There is a huge difference in the energy from suppermarket fruit and veg and farm fresh market fruit and veg.

OK thanks for your reply, but I am not sure I got the answers :)

Do you recommend doing Tai Chi before or after other physical exercise like cicle or the eliptical machine?

About the food, I am interested if there are any special instructions, about when should you train, like "Do not train after eating" or something :)

I am not vegetarian, in fact I enjoy good meals with meat, but I won't eat just about anything at anytime. I agree, a person can live without meat, probably even better than us carnivores. But I don't feel like quitting yet :) Maybe we can have this discussion in some other topic when the time comes.

Lol my GF is a meat Bandit so I understand heheh. It does taste good. Generally Taichi is best before pk excercises as it opens up your energy channels Ill ask one of my instructors and get back on this one.

Amm, good morning :D

Ask which is better, to do Tai Chi before or after PHYSICAL exercise (not PK or something), which in my case would be bicycling or riding the elliptical machine at home.

Well, I found out myself.

If you do Tai Chi after other physical exercise, you are more aware of how fluid and gentle your moves are, therefore you get a better feel for the energy flow.

However, while doing so, if you were straining at your prior (physical) exercise, your limbs are more tired, especially the legs which are at greater strain in Tai Chi. I find it harder to balance and ground my legs correctly, so I wobble a bit.

So, my conclusion is, if the physical exercise was not very intense, you are better off doing Tai Chi after it.

Guys where exactly is Dan Tien, the energy storage? I have started to feel something, but not sure if this is it. It's like "heat from inside", but above my belly button. As I understood so far Dan Tien should be below it. I am confused :S

I have read that our binary star is moving into a new cycle and with that movement the energy points will start to rise in the body as they sinc with the new energy being produced. There has been talk of a new change throughout humanity. However what you say ties into that literature perhaps your energy point has already started to rise the dan tien was typicaly below the belly button.

I can focus the "heat from inside" elsewhere on my stomach. I just found out today when I was feeling ill in the right side of the stomach. I used one of the qi gong healing techniques and I felt the same "heat from inside" as before. I am feeling much better now.

Even though it was acquired through such a "illegal" source as a torrent download, Tai Chi is one of the best things that happened to me on the internet.

There is an energy point qi gong technique my Sifu taught me for headaches and another one for energy + one more for eye rejuvination when they are tired. The energy work and techniques learned through taichi & qi gong are invaluable and versatile and I believe helpfull to learn pk.biggrin
I would love to find out more about the stomach technique :)

Super chi charge technique. I have been finding that biofield or chi can be harnessed in many ways however to charge your field simply follow through your chosen form of tai chi.
I have just been going through to silver moon or strokes horse mane and Then sitting down my field is relaxed and charged moving objects on the table like the ball and other light objects becomes as easy as throwing chi with intent attached at it. I will work on this to improve distance then create a video of the tai chi form I am using and a demonstration I m hoping to be able to use this biokinetic effect of taichi training for moving heavier objects with training.
Usually my mind searches for available kinetic energy to harness however this way your body harnesses it from around you through act of tai chi form. I will write more soon once I have completed my new training and video.

lol I am no master I have forgotten so much I at the very most do it every couple of days no where near as much as I used to a few years ago however I found working through first form to Snake creeps down is sufficient to generate the energies I need. I enjoy the feell of silver moon the most. I have mixed the Taichi exercises I learned with Shing yi Fire water wood and earth  forms. It is steping through the Shing yi and finishing with tai chi that I can access the awareness that helps with PK.
I also have some taichi meditations to relax and Chi kung exercises my teacher gave me before he passed on I try and do at least every now and then. These follow the points of the small hevenly cycle.

Hey Cavalorn, if you're doing for taichi for physical training, I'll tell
you what I do, maybe you find it useful.

I practice tai chi when I wake up, before I go to sleep, whenever I have the
free time, or simply when I remember... or should I say... simply when I
want to.

I use tai chi for whatever I need, for instance, if I'm doing some training
early in the cold morning and my body is still cold I can use tai chi simply
to do the warm up or for more if I want to.

If I need to improve the balance and control of a certain movement I take a
10 minute break to do tai chi and then go back to practicing my movements,
this time with an improved sense of balance and control... it works for me.

If it's dark and I'm going to sleep in a few moments, but the temperature is
great, the sky looks good, I have a great view over everything around, and I
feel like staying there admiring for a while, sometimes I just stay there
consciously admiring the mountains, the stars, the river, the trees, the
animals, the villages, the wind, the pureness of everything... and at the
same time, why not do taichi at such a great place and time?

So I stay there for a while allowing my subconscious to take over my body
and do the movements by itself... which will allow me to sleep better,
because I've got peace of mind and body (cause I've been admiring this
wonderful environment that I like and at the same time relaxing my whole
body).

But these are just random examples and preferences, if you're after
different results, just apply things differently.

It's a creative tool, that I use it for whatever I need, whenever I need...
so, be creative, do the best you can and have fun.

Hello Yourself, sorry I somehow missed your post.

Yes I imagine it is better to be personal, subjective about it and not do it just by the book, or just for the cold facts.

You described your environment as very beautiful and I am glad to hear that you live there and appreciate what you have.
