Garlic Poison or Cure

Garlic I have been learning more and more about brainwave syncronization and meditation what helps and what doesn't. Reported on the BBC and throuhout various grassroots online communities to have an adverse affect on meditation I thought that we should put this to the test. I will quote from a weel quoted piece for the first part of our investigation.
For the purpose of our investigation we are only looking at the effects on reaction time and meditative state in this thread. There are many well known uses for garlic. But I find it of interest and not that Tibetan Monks and Yoga practicioners will steer clear of it to promote better meditation whatever their explanation of the reason.

"I was in flight test engineering in Doc Hallan's group in the 1950's. The flight
surgeon would come around every month and remind all of us: "Don't
you dare touch any garlic 72 hours before you fly one of our
airplanes, because it'll double or triple your reaction time. You're
three times slower than you would be if you'd [not] had a few drops
of garlic."  (Source unknown)

This one is plastered all over the internet. Let us as researchers and investigators do a simple test at home.
Experiment.
Method. Being sure to not have consumed garlic in the last 72 hours - 24 will do take this reaction test. If you do not want to use this one feel free to source your own this one gives a good indication of reaction over a series of tests.

After taking this test write down your reaction time. (no competition here you may keep your results private if you wish.)

Next eat some garlic rich food or raw garlic ie. Garlic bread, Italian food etc.

After consuming your food lets use the same scale we use for going for a swim after a meal give yourself 1-2 hours for the Garlic to be absorbed and take effect.

Retake the reaction test. Just once will do. Now were your results worse slower or better faster. Yes for more reaction time. No for Less.

Be your own teacher. Get your own results. Please take some time to answer yes or no on the poll for the communities results.

Feel free to comment after doing this experiment. I have done it and found that my meditative state was affected my pk results and my reaction time. Do the experiment then you will have your own truth as is right for you and your own bodies reaction. Remember everyone has different physiology what is good for some might not be good for everyone :) I still believe garlic has many medicinal and flavorful applications I am just beginning to suspect it has been affecting my synchronization state.

Well..garlic is pretty darn tastey, but I will do the test:) When was younger, I decided that I would't drink because I didn't want my chi gung practice impaired.

It doesn't have much of any effect on me cause I kinda consume garlic pretty much everyday. I'm addicted to garlic, it IS tasty, but I'm well used to it, and my reactions somehow improve after eating some, like, I react faster, but thats most likely because I practically eat it every day. But that's just me.

Voted 'NO'.

Did you do the experiment with the reaction test?  This test the purpose of the survey is not to determine whether it is tasty or not (its delicious)  the test is does it affect reaction time using a measurable system, Does it affect meditation as the monks and yoga practicioners understand. The scientific approach woul be to attempt the experiment before drawing a conclussion.

Once again this is not about flavour its about affect. I consume alcohol from time to time but I understand that when I do it will affect my pk training for several days afterwards. This is what I am trying to determine about garlic.

The reason I brought this to the forum was to determine if abstaining from garlic  durring training would help with brainwave syncronization and results.

Shirak, with the drinking thing, I have a few beers from time to time and so far this hasn't  noticeably effected my Pk training at all the day after, it may be because I am at a more basic level of training, not sure,
or could it be some kind of construct that if you think oh no I am having some drinks I am not going to be able to practice very well for a few days, thats actually what happens.
Just took the reaction test will have to get some garlic and try it again.

Has anyone else noticed that Nykrl's you tube channel has been closed?
A bit of a shame I think

Well Shirak, as far as I can remember(now that I recently remembered), the first time I tried garlic, it appearently made my reaction time longer, even after I consumed very little since I couldn't take in much. But since then, I grew accustomed to it, and only now it makes my reaction time quicker than usual. So I guess I'll need to change my vote... If I can.
