enlightenment

I have studied Buddhism, Taoism, various martial arts, hypnosis, art, music nad many other things. Most of these pursuits had the underlying goal of developing superpowers. When I was 3 years old, I remember watching the George Reeves superman flying on T.V.. I remember thinking back then, that there was something familiar about it. I knew that being as superhero was what I was meant to do. Obviously, the world does not support this idea, even if deep down most people would like it to be this way. So here I am, on my path, achieving all kinds of super skills on the way. Even though a world with superheroes is my goal, and I never much considered that I wanted enlightenment to dawn on me. I must admit that, the further I go in training, the more easily I can see enlightenment happening as a natural progression. As I train everyday, I often have amazing experiences & states of mind which I wasn't looking for, yet there they are, happening to me. Especially since I started training with my crown chakra; I see that white light all the time now, and I frequently experience intense feelings of happiness for no reason. I don't seem to have feelings of worry so much anymore, even though my outward life hasn't changed much. Also, feelings of empathy & bilocation, are becoming more profound each day. I wonder if anyone else has these thoughts. It's often said, that the biggest effect of PK is internal, but it's a little scary sometimes:)

Enlightenment is one of my oldest goals, but it's a goal that slightly makes me uneasy at times - so I keep postponing it for later. It would make it a lot easier to achieve other goals, but at the same time, I'm afraid it would also conflict with some of them (like finishing school with good grades, putting up a successful game programming company and having a lovely family). Things in the materialistic world that I'm having difficulties giving up. I can give up my money and belongings, but I can't give up on my goals or responsibilities .. yet. I'm not sure if it's needed, but I think that when I can give up on everything, then I could be free of all worries.

I didn't have any great goals for pk practice before. I occasionally practiced it because I really love creating things and altering what already exists (which is also the reason behind the game programming company goal). Only recently did I come up with a nice goal for practicing pk - I would like to start teaching it one day.

For achieving the enlightenment goal as well as learning more about pk, I have been thinking of going into a Kundalini school in the future.

Hmm, writing this here left my goals staggering. hmm Although most of them were more than 10 years old, I'm no longer certain about most of my goals.

I know what you mean about feeling uneasy, or like you want to put it off till later. I guess I can sort of feel it happening sometimes, when I go into deep training.

Hey, if you ever start a game company, give me a shout. I'm a 3D modeler & animator:)

I think I have said somewhere, that I have become more calm recently from being quite tense and worrying about everything.
The other day I got stressed which took me away from this calmness I am developing, it was very noticable, and I thought to myself this used to be my state of mind all the time and b4 I hadn't noticed how bad it was.  So I looked how this stress was being caused by the thoughts going round my head and silenced the thought that was causing the stress and it was back to calmness again.

@owltwelve: Gladly, as a matter of fact, so far there were hardly any 3d modelers and animators around. Most of my friends are programmers.

@Treasure Hunter: Thumbs up! Sometimes it might be better to take the time and solve the problem with the thought (if that's not what you already meant by silencing it). Simply silencing it might postpone the problem for later.

Spontaneous pk while in stress can be pretty bad. I now think that's what caused mysterious failures at the robotic contest (robot electronics blowing up with batteries detached, servos constantly breaking and so on). =D No wonder, as it was weeks of stress + many nights without any sleep + months with minimal food. Adding school and olympiads into the equation, it resulted in my biggest crashdown and realization moment. Even though I'm really thankful for this leap, it sure was unhealthy.

Although I'm a lot more calm and positive than before, there are still remnants of earlier thought patterns that sometimes cause tension with no actual reason. As I do the same things I did years ago, I can see how I saw myself back then.

I feel like a yogi blinded by his own downfall. Need to meditate a lot more smile..

It's all good biggrin

Perhaps you are feeling frustrated with yourself; ridiculed by someone, or maybe annoyed with a person or situation you find yourself in. You can choose to see it as an opportunity to grow more quickly. My girlfriend certainly annoys me all the time. Sometimes she challenges me reasonably, or even with nonsense, because it gives her pleasure to frustrate me:) I sometimes think, "she's getting on my nerves...how can I get enlightened around this low negative energy...", lol. I then remember gratitude; her personality helps me to uncover my weaknesses. Am I as enlightened as I think? The people who get on your nerves, are your teachers to:)

While comparing my calmness to how I remember it from some earlier moments in my life, I found that I was not always as calm as I used to be. I found the same for my thoughts and behavior. That's why I started thinking whether I was falling.

However, I'm starting to think (again - I realize it multiple times each year) that there probably is no downfall - it's just an illusion because of arriving at the same place again. Although we arrive at the same place, we are different each time (with all the accumulated knowledge and understanding about the universe and ourselves). Progress is not linear, it's more like a spiral.

Another thing that I'm starting to think again is that I can't say I'm calmer or less calmer than before. The definition of being calm also keeps adjusting, so what I remember about being calm is like in different units compared to the current calmness. By default, we don't feel what we are already used to and everything we do feel is being compared to the previous.

I love these daredevil attempts jumping into challenging situations. Today I held an astronomy presentation to professional astronomers while knowing nothing about astronomy (except for the presentation I had prepared) biggrin. It was somewhat unnerving to frequently be stopped by them correcting my terminology. Another great moment was playing as a substitute in a musical film last year while I couldn't even dance (that was quite embarrassing aww).

Thanks for the video, there was quite a lot of information in there.

It answered to quite a few questions I had had. I had tried to get answers through meditation, but couldn't understand the answers back then.. biggrin

I think that the split that Alan refers to as being a Mirage is interesting. Of most interest is the definition he suggests for Ego and higher self.

Of course the ego and higher self are the same however the ego is a construct of the self whether one wants to call it true self higher self or soul. It is a useful split to highlight in Pk when describing the attributes of the two facets of the same thing. I think how he talks about one trying to reign the other in as one does a horse a rider and horse. Of course they are the same self however one facet has access to different forms of awareness. Whereas the ego operates or is overwhelmed by the bio interface of the senses.

The ego which seems to be this construct created as an interface can overwhelm the true selfs awareness. It is only by sitting in silence that we can truly once again appreciate the many other fascets of all that we are, not limited by senses, not limited by space, not limited by time

Wow, owltwelve, you hit the pearl that I had missed (the second video). Thanks for sharing them smile..

In the second part of his conversation with himself, Alan Watts mentioned something interesting: "..I seem, like everything else, to be a center or sort of vortex at which the whole universe realizes itself, comes alive. A sort of aperture, through which the whole universe is conscious of itself.."

I hadn't really seen the experience of "being God" this way before.

I wanted to share the observation that many of techniques & philosophies pertaining to the enlightenment process are cross cultural. I have benefited greatly in my spiritual development by seeing the connections existing in varied disciplines. In my journey, I have studied martial arts; yoga, hypnosis, magick, spiritualism, & psionics. I would say that they all have the same root, & I definately use them all to enhance PK. It's a bit like an athlete learning ballet or taichi, to improve movment performance. Don't let dogma get in the way of growth, not even a cool dogma, like Taoism, Yoga, or Psionics:)

While watching a lot of animes lately, I have come across a few realization moments. There are really good principles / ways of thinking hidden in them.

Dragon ball episode 148 (Goku defeats his evil enemy and then revives him again). There's also a short description of it at the end of this blog entry.

After having seen all previous Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden episodes, watching Shippuuden episode 167 resulted in a realization moment (Naruto thinks that he has lost everything when actually, he has come to a breakthrough). Posted a description of it on the blog a while ago.

I think that most of these animes are inspired by old scriptures, fairy tales and stories about superheros. Reading them directly might also provide these realization moments.

Wow, haven't seen that episode in a long time! Another great anime for studying elemental & psi powers , is The Flame Of Recca(fire shaping, wind control, earth  control, time manipulation, ect). Ha! Now I'm psyched to watch it again, it's been years. These anime have a lot of wisdom to teach.

Rurouni Renshin, is good too for learning how to let out your true potential:)
