Why are we even doing this?

A bit of a repost, but the thread that brought this to my attention hasn't gotten any posts since early 2009, so I thought it'd be best to just start a new one. So, we're all involved in something paranormal, right? Wether it's actually doing it, or just theorising about it, it doesn't matter. I was wondering, why? Why do we train so hard to achieve these abilities, and what do we plan to achieve with them? I myself haven't really figured it out yet. I've been fascinated with this kind of stuff since as long as I can remember (probably since them time I saw the movie Mathilda for the first time), and nowadays I am really interested in finding out how it works and all. Not only that, but I want to prove this to people, and poke those who said "of course x isn't real, that's little-kid-fiction!" in the eyes. I want to teach people not to directly do away with everything by just saying "not possible", that kind of stuff. Teach them that the things you see in movies (aliens, paranormal powers, etc) aren't always pure fiction. That, and it's good fun to do :3

On the most basic level; I train because I had have an aptitude for it. Also, I have always known at least since 3yrs old, that I was meant to do this. When i saw superman flying, I knew that I was supposed to do that too. I also train because like other skills I've developed, it has already had practical effect in my life. It gives me an advantage in the world like any other skill. In the back of my mind there is also the goal of enlightenment:)

My feeling about convincing others, is that it opens you up to their world view, as well as their discomfort about you having what they would perceive as an unfair advantage. In most of my encounters with people concerning this stuff, I got a hostile attitude directed at me even when the reality of it was clear. Many times, even friends who I knew to be into superheroes & fantasy, would respond with fear, & not want me around as much. So, I basically keep it to myself now & get stronger. I figure others will discover it when they are ready, and even if they don't, it doesn't affect me.

Why i seek PK abilities and paranormal knowledge?? o.o lol.. To reach my true human potential.. If it exists.. it can be done.. if it can be done it can be experimented.. if it can be experimented.. it can be studied o.O if it can be studied.. it can be developed o__o Developing your human abilities and the evolution of man kind...
That seems like a worthy purpose to me ^^ Plus.. Enlightment aint bad everyonce in a while :D

My story is was when I was young things happened I tried closing myself off to them and my sensitivity to them. Later in life I experienced a few really bad illnesses and went to hospital to get operated on. I realized life was to precious to waste who I was on those who can't appreciate it. I experienced what I refer to as a reawakening. All these things all these thoughts. Books were consumed and sleep became a nuisance. I finally confronted my GF with what I was going through. She accepted me regardless. At this time I began to be able to affect things telepathically and telekinetically. I began to embrace my true self and I know now even the sky is not the limit I will master levitation. I know Psions around the world are evolving at an accelerated rate the more we share. I know my dreams of flying are only a taste of things to come.

My interest in pk greatly stems from an urge of creativity. I want to create not only virtual realities aka games and environment in the dreams, but this so-called "reality" as well. That would be fun..

Furthermore, practicing pk enhances focus and control over my own thoughts, feelings and helps me with enlightenment. There were years, when I felt completely out of control; I want to fully overcome this.

You guys are very inspiring. I liked reading everyones thoughts on why they're doing this.

I've always been interested in this stuff since I was a kid, but since it's not really accepted in everyday life by most people, you're told not to do it; or that it doesn't exist or is not possible. I remember the first time I started my research into this stuff. Thanks to my friend, we went to the library when we were in 7th grade, and I started my research into tk. My friends and I practiced this stuff for the rest of our 7th grade school year, but then by 8th grade we never really hung out and tried this stuff anymore. I don't know if any of my friends actually do this, considering the different paths everyone went on after graduation, but I am very curious to ask my closest friend who I studied this stuff with. I hope he doesn't respond in a negative way...

Anyways, why am I doing this....I can't say that I'm doing this for "enlightenment," I never really thought of a "why," to be honest. I guess it was just to mainly see if I could actually do this. I didn't get the greatest results back in 7th grade, but I did get very small results. I'm making the psi-wheel spin pretty consistently now though, so I would consider my picking this up to be a good thing. So, proving this to myself is my reason. I even showed my girlfriend and she seemed pretty skeptical, but she had no explanation for how or why it was spinning. I gotta say, I really enjoyed that reaction. smile

Yeah, I'm happy my girlfriend is cool and understanding enough to not be weirded out by this stuff. I know a lot of people would react a lot differently than she did.

I also just started working on the further distance for psi-wheel spinning. Its a lot easier for me to spin it when I'm closer using my hands to channel my energy, but I've sat back (probably about 2-3 feet away from it) and still got it to spin. Once I start getting more responsive results I'm going to try the psi-wheel under glass. I gave it a whirl before, but I only got it to shake a little, not spin.

Lol, well I got very discouraged when I couldn't get it to spin like the success I've been having with it just out in the open. I guess I'll work on spinning it under glass like tomorrow night or something. Thanks for the support Owltwelve.

lol o.o if i had a gf ... id definitely not show her that on first date XD baaaaaad mooove :D lol sitting in a cafe and she is like waiting for you to brag about something xD and you tell her "ill show something so cool!! o_o -runs to get a psiwheel- ill make it move with my mind!!" and she would be like "riiiiiiiiiiiight o___O" lol xD

@Fang, Yeah, my girl is pretty sweet. We've almost been together for a year now, so she loves me either way. Lol.

@Draspy, That'd actually be a really good way to get out of a date! Say the girl is completely not for you or shes stuck up or something, you just gotta say, "hey! want to see something really cool!? I'm going to move something with my mind!" Lol. dilemma solved!

It's nice to have a girlfriend Draspy; I won't lie, but remember, the grass is always greener on the other side. Girlfriends also represent someone pulling at your attention & making unreasonable demands. Some days, it seems like they make it their mission to stress you out, and it begins to become clear why women usually out live men, lol:)

I do love my girlfriend though, even when she drives me nuts. Owltwelve brought low; sad, sad, sad:)
