I was actually thinking about this little problem myself. I've read in a few different places where people that did psychic espionage were able to continue the practice even after death with their still living colleagues. Though they were not able to maintain it for very long though the length of time wasn't specified in any case. I think that so long as we are influenced by this ego mind and the desire for deceit that it may be very easy for us to trick ourselves into believing something that isn't necessarily true regardless of where we are.

Perhaps the underlying point of the astral plane isn't actually a place we can go externally, but internally. Maybe we explore the world inside our minds and get to know each ourselves on a deeper level that most never get to.

The observational universe is universal observation.
For this post I'll assume that a custom theory holds. According to that theory, we are bubbles in the energy field. Bubble surface separates our energy pool from the rest of the energy field. Each thought, emotion, feeling is a pattern of energy (construct) in our bubble.
If one person has a cavity in their bubble, then in order for someone else to resonate (sense it or even be one) with it, they need to have a similar cavity. Whatever we focus on, manifests in our own bubble and if there's something similar in someone else's then it resonates with theirs.
From this perspective it's all internal and it's simply a matter of matching the resonant frequencies. Objective reality would be just an energy field and a lot of recursive bubbles. Perhaps not deceit, but simply a mismatch of frequencies (not exactly in resonance with the target).

Thats very interesting and explains alot. I do believe there is a 'universal' frequency as well. When one attains enlightenment or some similar (or close) state, they are able to read and identify everyone and to touch them on some level as well, no matter how different their frequencies are.
