What does teleportation look like?

I've heard from some people here that teleportation is possible. I know this isn't a question with any practical importance, but it's still something I get so curious about whenever I hear about it: what does it look like to an outside observer? Is it like one instant you're there/it's there, the next instant there's nothing, and nothing to indicate anything was ever there? (And then the other way around on the other side?) Is it more like a smooth fade? Is there a flash of light or anything like you see in the movies? Something else entirely?

I've heard people talk about having seen this, but this is something they never mention for some reason, which is surprising because if I saw something like that I couldn't help but describe in detail what it looked like. And I've seen videos of some of the stuff that's said to be possible, like levitating, but I've never seen any of this. Anyone here who's seen it and can describe what it looks like? Anyone know of any video they can link that looks accurate? Again, I know this isn't something that really matters in practice, but I'm just so curious because I've never seen anything like that before.

I also haven't seen teleportation in action, I think.

Probably IRL it would be without those annoying special effects

Yeah that would be my guess too, but even then there's more than one possibility for how exactly it could look. Plus it would be interesting to hear for sure from someone who's seen it.

I haven't seen teleportation, so don't no what it looks like. I have had experiences of extreme time dilation which felt like teleportation, but is actually more like folding spacetime I guess. The effect was traveling more than an hours distance in two minutes or so. It has happened while in jhana states while walking. It's happened many times, & at first I thought it might just be the common trance people go into while driving or other routine activities. However, I've been conscious enough on a few of these occasions to verify the short time change against the distance. Anyway, it's one of those phenomena that happens sometimes but is out of my control. I'm not sure what it looks like to others. There is a Tibetan tantric skill which this seems to most closely resemble, but it's more like super speed, or space folding.

The other similar phenomena that I've experienced is a partial bi-location, meaning materialization of multiple bodies. This is not really teleportation either, but people have told me what it looks like to them. They usually describe a sudden change in room pressure & temperature(ambient cold & localized heat). The describe a light refracting cloud, like they can see the air around the as if underwater. Also, people describe an increase in anxiety, & an awareness of knowing it's me. Some people describe appearance of smells, or tactile contact if that's what I happened to be doing. Then some people describe being whisked into a vivid dreamscape. Again this is obviously not teleportation, but it's the phenomenon that I've gotten the most detailed feedback on from multiple sources, so I thought I should mention it. At some point when I get a better handle on the negative side effects to others & I have better resources; I'll try to measure these things with cameras & other equipment. It's a skill which has been written & talked about; at the higher level of the skill it's full materialization rather than plasma fields. I often wonder if the same skill could be used for teleportation though:)

What I've heard is the karana sharir is purified and used to carry the astral and physical bodies in it. Rainbow body type stuff. Tantra methods exist. Probably many methods.

biggrin I think it's safe to say that's not how teleportation works.

It's interesting that he would assume that there's a stationary grid of reference on which teleportation happened.

That's interesting, owl. I hope you publish your findings, videos, etc. for the benefit of everyone. I'm glad to hear that someone who has experience with this is aware of the bizarre dearth of concrete information about all this and wants to do something about it. (I'd love to do my part too, but there's really nothing I can do yet until I have more practice.) It is bizarre, isn't it?

I'd say it's strange that there isn't even a video of it, but I guess if it's possible then that would mean any number of those "(insert unexplainable occurence here) CAUGHT ON TAPE" videos could easily be legit. To someone who doesn't already know what it looks like, a video of the real deal would just blend in with all the fake ones. Like right away I found "10 Teleportations Caught On Tape"--I can't watch it right now because I'm at work, but even if there is a real one in there I probably wouldn't know which one it is. Definitely not the one in the thumbnail though. Someone with related experience (like one of you) might know enough to make an educated guess though. (If anyone does look at that video, I'm interested to hear which if any you think could potentially be real.)
