"When modern science began about three hundred years ago, one of the consequences of separating mind and matter was that science slowly lost its mind."

A stable-minded person will neither hug nor hate the world, he will take things as they come.
I did a few searches and couldn't find this anywhere here on the forums (to my surprise), but i figure it belongs here. Most of you have probably heard it before, but it is always inspiring.

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old chief simply replied, "The one you feed."

"there are many differences between Chopra and Hawking, but the grace and dignity to admit when theyre wrong may be one of the most fundamental. But then, I suppose Chopra never is"
A man with no home. No food finds a gold coin one day and with his joy he dances because he knew he could eat. The man goes into town and heads to the market stalls. As he was there he could see children starving and woman struggling. Instead of filling his stomach he buys all the childrnen n woman food for thatday with his cold coin. The man died the next day. The people of the town who had very little decided to call him a hero for his generosity. In a single day a man gave a coin. A single coin that fed a few. It wasn't because he gave money to give away negativity but because he gave away his selfishness. This is a true being of enlightment.

Whatsoever a great man does, that other men also do; whatever he sets up as the standard, that the world follows.
As the ignorant men act from attachment to action, O Bharata (Arjuna), so should the wise act without attachment, wishing the welfare of the world!
Let no wise man unsettle the minds of ignorant people who are attached to action; he should engage them in all actions, himself fulfilling them with devotion.
All actions are wrought in all cases by the qualities of Nature only. He whose mind is deluded by egoism thinks: I am the doer.
Excellent quote, these are also taken from that link.
"To those men who worship Me alone, thinking of no other, of those ever united, I secure what is not already possessed and preserve what they already possess."
Krishna
"Abandoning all duties, take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not."

New organs of perception come into being as a result of necessity. Therefore, O man, increase your necessity, so that you may increase your perception. Rumi

That which is motionless cannot be Divine. But then there is nothing in fact and reality absolutely motionless within the universal soul

Intra-Cosmic motion is eternal and ceaseless; cosmic motion (the visible, or that which is subject to perception) is finite and periodical.

Can the flame be called the essence of Fire? This Essence is "the LIFE and LIGHT of the Universe, the visible fire and flame are destruction, death, and evil." "Fire and Flame destroy the body of an Arhat, their essence makes him immortal." (Bodhi-mur, Book II.) "The knowledge of the absolute Spirit, like the effulgence of the sun, or like heat in fire, is naught else than the absolute Essence itself," says Sankaracharya. IT is "the Spirit of the Fire," not fire itself; therefore, "the attributes of the latter, heat or flame, are not the attributes of the Spirit, but of that of which that Spirit is the unconscious cause."
