I am working through the Psipog thepsionshandbook ebook, from the begining; (I believe that's the right place to start, right?). I am working on visualizing a psi ball in my abdomen, that blue electric, sparking ball, they describe. The thing is, I am trying to visualize it spatially in my head with regards to body. For example, if I had my eyes open I'd have to actually look at my abdomen and have it in my field of view in order to visualize the blue ball there. When I have my eyes closed I need to do the same thing. Do I not need to worry about this during the visualization? Can I just imagine the place itself, without directing my attention to that exact (x,y,z) coordinate location in space?
On a second note, has anyone been able to visualize something mentally outside of their "normal" (typical eyes open) field of view?
If you're going for imagining a blue psi ball in an imaginery space I don't see why that would involve anything more or less than doing just that .
Now if you want it to be visible to the point of being captured on film like john chang starting fires type of stuff I wouldn't value inexperienced advice.
This includes Torig's .
Though in pk there's only one thing I've done when actually moving something I hadn't moved before.
That is.
1. See it happen.
Now, I've found there's something about the sensation of naming something that can cause movement. It's just the sensation of naming.
Not the idea of mouthing or writting a name.
Anyway to me it seems like with pk some can try to enjoy struggles that seem chaotic to me.

No offense, but I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Basically, I just have trouble visualizing things, specifically those outside of my field of view (humans can see about 160 degrees vertically, in my opinion). I've noticed that even while trying to visualize things with my eyes closed, I still have the same field of view, which limits my visualizations.

Everyone has differing levels of natural talent in regarding visualization. However, everyone does it every day. You need visualization to perform most tasks in life, as well as to make simple plans, like going to the store for milk, navigation, or choosing from a dinner menu.
It may be useful for you to think of visualization as a skill, which strengths the synaptic connections in your brain like any other skill does. Visualization, mainly depends on two things; the quantity of sense memories that you've accumulated throughout your life, & your level of skill with concentration.
Humans have a natural talent for approximate visualization, & associative thinking. For instance, compared with synthetic computers, the human brain is good at recognizing, that this letter E & this letter E, are both e without being told by anyone. We generally recognize a chair when we see one, regardless if we've ever seen that particular design before. If you want to make a blue glowing psi_ball; it won't be a stretch, because you've seen a ball & a glowing blue light before. You can piece the rest together from other sense memories, & make it real for yourself with increased repetition of practice.
If you want to develop visualization skill, as well as all mind powers really; you should cultivate concentration skill. Here is a simple exorcize that you can practice to that end:)
If you want to go deeper:
