Does anyone know if/how hormone replacement therapy (specifically of the male to female variety) would affect the practice of celibacy for the purpose of cultivating energy? Would it affect the difficulty and/or effectiveness of the practice at all? I've asked a couple people via PM, but neither of them have any familiarity with that treatment so they weren't able to answer my question.
Thank you!

Yes, it seems likely in the relatively-near future. I'd really like the benefits of HRT, but I wouldn't want to risk making it impossible to cultivate that energy or something. And at the same time, I wouldn't want to never get HRT because of something that, as far as my critical, experience-based side is concerned, is still only a hypothetical.
If you decide to go through with it and you feel comfortable doing so please share whatever you feel might help us to understand it in the energetic sense. Not a requirement but it will definitely help us with future folk that go down that path. I do wish you the best with the transition. Not sure what is too much to discuss here so please forgive me if I overstep my bounds with anything.

Hmmm, I would say it wouldn't but you never know. From little interaction I've had with a couple people who call themselves asexual I didn't sense much chi from them. I've no idea what that is, I'm assuming they're celibate as well. Although I don't see how this works. From my knowledge the genitals only really process energy if anything. You get energy from breathing, eating and such. This is called in taoism postnatal chi. You can google for more specifics on how the body gathers chi/vital energy. But this is only from an energetic point of view.
I don't know how it affects development of hormones/jing.

:P Sir Aqua your response was still vague. Can you clarify on which side of the fence you're talking about? Would it or wouldn't it?
I am considering getting myself fixed and I'm nervous that it'll cause issues with jing creation. I'm not sure I even want to risk it but I also don't want to risk having more kids...

Keeping it real guys, conserving your vital fluid, makes a huge difference in power & personal magnetism. It puts cultivation on fast forward for sure. Also, when the subtle drops melt from bindus; there is definitely something hormonal going on. In one of his songs, Milarepa, chastises practitioners who don't conserve their essence as delusional. Padmasambhava(2nd Buddha), said that sexual energy, is the most excellent energy to work with.
I don't know much about hormone replacement therapy & it's effects. If you feel that you are a woman in a male body; you may not have much choice. However, limpidprogress, you should definitely find other cultivators who have had vasectomies & talk with them before you take such a leap:)

Have you done a post about it on other forums like the tao bums, or places where celibacy cultivation is more common? It's hard to believe vasectomy has never come up.
